How many are your works, O LORD!

The raspberries are coming on. One quart of black raspberries is just enough for a batch of jam or a delectable cobbler. Before my berry patches were planted, mid-June would find me donned in long sleeves and long pants and doused in mosquito repellant. Daily and alone I rambled through the woods in search of wild black raspberries. The clusters of ripe berries shone like jewels in the dappled sunlight. I picked all I could reach. During the berry harvests, then as now, the same thought has come to mind: God provides our food, but we must do our part, too. The fruit, there for our sustenance, will not jump into our refrigerators. Some effort on our part is required.

"He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate -- bringing forth food from the earth" Psalm 104:14
