A Bible in Shambles

I've read that a bible in shambles is owned by someone whose life isn't.   I told Cowboy that I was thinking of buying a new bible since mine was completely falling apart.  The front cover had come off and some of the pages had come loose from the binding.   A bible in shambles is a perfect description, however, I can't say that my life hasn't been thrown in to shambles (usually by me) even since I've owned this bible.  Maybe I do need a new bible.  Sometimes the thought of getting something new is exhilarating.  But....this was not one of those times.  If you could look at the pages of my bible, you would understand my dilemma.

Because mine isn't a red-letter bible, Jesus' words are highlighted in yellow

I underline in pink what I want to remember

I highlight in pink super-important words

"Love" is highlighted in green

"Joy" and "Rejoice" are highlighted in orange

"Wisdom" is highlighted in blue

I draw lips next to verses about taming the tongue

and dollar signs next to verses about money

and

Sermon notes  are written everywhere in pencil

I entertained the idea of buying a new bible and sitting down over a stretch of snowy afternoons, transcribing every one of my notes and highlights onto each page of the new bible.  Picture it:  Me, cozily nestled by the fire, wrapped in a warm quilt....both bibles in front of me with my array of highlighters and pencil, soft music playing....

Snap out of it!!!!!
Are you crazy?  Do you know how long that would take?!!!
It's nothing that duct tape and packing tape can't fix!!!

So.....I duct taped and packing taped everything back together and decided to keep the bible I have...it's become a part of me.
